Grant Assessment Criteria

All applications are assessed by a RADF Assessment Panel against the below four equally weighted criteria. The indicators listed are a sample of the types of evidence needed to achieve each criterion:

Quality

  • Produces or contributes to high quality arts and cultural intiatives for local communities
  • Proven capacity to effectively support and deliver arts and cultural services

Reach

  • Provides access to, and engagement in, arts and culture for diverse communities, practitioners, participants and audiences
  • Evidence of local demand for proposed program/s
  • Demonstrates community and stakeholder involvement in RADF priority setting, decision making and evaluation

Impact

  • Demonstrates cultural, artistic, social or economic returns on investment
  • Supports one or more of the Queensland Government objectives for the community including safeguarding our health, supporting jobs, backing small business, making it for Queensland, building Queensland, growing our regions, investing in skills, backing our frontline services, protecting the environment

Viability

  • Evidence of good planning for strong governance and management of RADF at a local level
  • Evidence of partnership capacity with partners including business and government

REGIONAL ARTS DEVELOPMENT FUND - GRANTS ASSESSMENT PANEL

Are you passionate about supporting your community through the Arts?

Then you should consider joining the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Assessment Panel!

As a panel member, you will review RADF Grant Applications, playing a key role in fostering local arts and culture in Balonne Shire.

The process of using expert peer-assessment and arms-length decision making for funding are foundation principles for Queensland Arts Funding, which ensure that the decision-making process is transparent, equitable and robust. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

RADF Assessment Panel responsibilities include:

  • Attending an induction/training session for the RADF program;
  • Assessing grant applications in accordance with Balonne Shire Council’s RADF Grant Guidelines and the Community Grants Policy;
  • Assessing grant applications for all contestable grant rounds per year and provide comment on the applications for assessment and funding recommendations;
  • Attending RADF Moderation meetings. RADF Moderation meetings are held at a minimum of once per funding round or as necessary.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, RADF Assessment Panel members must:

  • Possess a broad knowledge of the arts and cultural sector and regional networks in / around Balonne Shire;
  • Have specific professional arts or cultural experience;
  • Have the capacity to assess grant applications in accordance with RADF Grant Guidelines;
  • Be able to be at arm's length from all applications.

Applications are assessed annually and application for the current round are due by 3 March 2025.

The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland and Balonne Shire Council work in partnership to provide RADF funding opportunities to locals to enable the delivery of local arts, cultural and heritage projects in their region.

RADF Grants provide support to artists and community organisations to run projects which promote and develop the Arts, Culture and Heritage in our region.

The abovementioned Rounds will be subject to the availability of funding (i.e. funding may be expended prior to these dates).
