CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER TRANSITION

Back

Balonne Shire Council would like to regretfully advise that our Chief Executive Officer Matthew Magin has tendered his resignation, effective 30 August 2024.

Matthew Magin began his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of the Council on 7 November 2016 and has provided strong organisational management of the Council throughout his term.

I would like to sincerely thank Matthew for his astute guidance and experience, which has helped our Council team to deliver some outstanding achievements for our Shire that have deservedly attracted multiple Awards for programs and initiatives.

Balonne Shire Council will be immediately commencing a recruitment process for the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

The appointment of a Council Chief Executive Officer, and their subsequent contract, is a decision of Council as prescribed in the Local Government Act 2009 and can take some time to finalise.

While this recruitment process is being finalised, Balonne Shire Council will be appointing an interim Chief Executive Officer, and we will advise the community once the Interim CEO is in place.

In the meantime, I would like to assure all residents that the day-to-day operations of Council will continue business-as-usual while this transition occurs.
