Active Women & Girls Program
Balonne Shire Council has been successful in achieving funds from the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport to support & promote participation of women in sport and recreation.
The submission focussed on ‘Active Women and Girls’ and Balonne Shire Council will be assisting to deliver a fitness program(s) with the received funds between 1 February 2025 and 30 April 2025.
This grant aims to encourage our female community members across the Shire to be more active and improve their mental health and wellbeing.
We are now seeking applications from fitness professionals to deliver the program.
The successful applicant will receive up to $8,000 each for the development and execution of the program, as well as the purchase of minor equipment.
-
Council will choose from the pool of applicants based on:
-
How the program delivers participation initiatives to boost women's involvement
-
Expected impact on the community, both long and short term
-
Whether the program could be continued on its own
-
Potential attendance numbers
NOTE: Each applicant must be sufficiently skilled, experienced and equipped to handle this program.
Our Communities team at council are dedicated to supporting you through the design, execution and finalisation of the program. Additionally, we are open to considering purchasing equipment for the facilitation of the program. The following are some examples of equipment that could be considered:
-
Purchase of equipment for virtual or flexible physical activity programs for women

Provision of equipment for skill sessions supporting women with disabilities
