Jump in to summer with a free swim

The St George Swimming Pool will celebrate its re-opening on Monday 12th October 2020, with a free swim for children between 3pm and 6pm on the opening afternoon when they are accompanied by a paying adult.

St George Swimming Pool building exterior.Mayor Samantha O’Toole said she understood that some residents were disappointed by a delay in the pool's opening but it was outside of Council’s control.

“Until this week Council had not been able to secure a suitably qualified pool manager to enable the doors to open,” she said.

“Fortunately, we have now been able to appoint a manager for the short-term and Council will re-advertise the Pool Manager position shortly.’’

Cr O’Toole thanked the community for their patience, and said Council had decided to make the first afternoon session free for all children.

“I am sure many of our kids will jump at the opportunity to celebrate the new swim season with a free dip,” she said.

The swimming season opening hours for 2020-21 will be:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 5.30am-7.30am; 10am-12pm; 3pm-6pm
  • Wednesday: 5.30am-7.30am; 10am-12pm; 3pm-5.30pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10am-12pm; 3pm-6pm

Council has also maintained the same fees as last season. The fee schedule can be found here.
