This is a flood warning from the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for the Balonne Shire. Our Local Disaster Management Group is currently monitoring flooding that is expected to reach the Shire over the weekend.

DIRRANBANDI & HEBEL

The townships of Dirranbandi and Hebel are likely to be isolated with road closures on the Dirranbandi Bollon Road, Whyenbah Road and Castlereagh Highway (Hebel Dirranbandi Road) – refer to the Flood watch 3 for Dirranbandi and Hebel for further details.

BOLLON

There are no current warnings for Bollon. Residents on the Bollon Dirranbandi Road will experience road closures from next Tuesday or Wednesday (12-13/4) in and out of Dirranbandi. This may continue to affect return to school after the Easter break.

TRAVEL ALERTS

All road users are reminded to check road conditions before travelling.
The Moonie Highway is closed at Loudoun Bridge near Dalby. There are also other sections with water over the road closer to St George due to recent heavy rain – proceed with caution.
The Carnarvon Highway at Surat bridge is likely to remain open with the river expected to peak at 10.5m into Sunday. The bridge height is 11m.
The Barwon Highway to Goondiwindi is currently open.

Road conditions can change without notice.

ST GEORGE

The Balonne River at St George will start to see increased flows over the coming days. A peak is still to be confirmed however there is not expected to be any impact on habitable dwellings at this point in time and the Andrew Nixon Bridge on the Jack Taylor Weir is not currently expected to close.

NINDIGULLY & THALLON

There are no current flood warnings for the Moonie River.

MUNGINDI

There is no immediate concern for Mungindi. Balonne Shire Council is continuing to monitor with Moree Plains Regional Council, QLD SES and NSW SES.
