LGMD Advice No. 10 - 18 October 2022 – 12:00pm
ADVICE NO. 10 - 18 October 2022 –12:00pm
This is an update from the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for the Balonne Shire.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has advised:
- widespread showers, tending to rain at times, and severe thunderstorms are likely across western Queensland today. These conditions will shift slowly east over coming days. Locally heavy falls will be possible.
- Flash flooding is possible with any heavy rainfall falling on saturated soils over coming days.
- High-end severe thunderstorms are possible in western Queensland today and the southern and central interior on Wednesday. These could contain giant hail, destructive winds and intense rain.
- Multiple days of rainfall across the southern interior will lead to new and renewed flooding from Wednesday.
- River and creek level rises, and at least minor flooding, are likely in many rivers and
- creeks across Southern Inland Queensland catchments. This is likely to impact on road transport and access in the later half of this week and into next week.
MUNGINDI
Barwon River at Mungindi was at 6.41m and falling at 2.00pm Monday 17/10/2022. BOM has indicated renewed rises to the moderate flood level (6.70m) are possible from the middle of the week (19-20 Oct) and further rises to the major flood level (7.20m) may occur over the weekend. Council crew and equipment remain on hand to monitor the levee bank.
DIRRANBANDI AND HEBEL
Small rises may continue in the Balonne River system. There is a minor flood warning on the Balonne River system with the Bokhara River at Hebel currently at 0.96m (below minor).
