ST GEORGE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL
St George residents are gearing up to celebrate Christmas in style at this year’s St George Community Christmas Carnival to be held on 16 December 2022 from 4:30pm – 7:30pm in the heart of the St George business district, in the greens between The Hub and the Cultural Centre.
In a recent meeting, community organisations, service clubs and Council agreed to form an organising committee to coordinate the Christmas Carnival for 2022.
At this year’s Carnival we are aiming to include a Mega-Draw with cash giveaways, food stalls, rides, games, raffles, a jumping castle, a petting zoo, face painting and the judging of the local Christmas Lights Competition.
Balonne Shire Mayor, Samantha O’Toole, said that after years of dealing with Covid restrictions it will be great to again be able to celebrate in style this Christmas.
“We are all really looking forward to getting together again as a community at an event that brings everyone so much joy,” Mayor O’Toole said.
“I would like to particularly thank the tireless efforts of the local community groups and volunteers that are bringing this event together.”
There will be a different format for this year’s Christmas Carnival and given the tight timeframes the organising committee are calling on anyone wishing to be involved in the event to contact the Committee volunteers as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, the floods have played havoc with Santa’s schedule this year and we’ll be calling for a committed volunteer to help fill the shoes of the Jolly Saint Nicholas for photos with the kids. So, if you think you have what it takes then make yourself known.
