CAREER & JOB EXPO SET TO HIGHLIGHT OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOUTH WEST QUEENSLAND
Balonne Shire Council is excited to announce its upcoming Career and Job Expo, which will be held on 10 May 2023, from 9am to 2pm, at St Patrick’s School Hall, in St George.
The expo will feature around 34 career stalls and interactive displays, including Cotton Australia VR Goggles, Blue Light trailer, one-on-one career consults, and an Augmented Reality Welding Simulator.
The Career and Job Expo is open to the whole community, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about various career paths and upskilling opportunities.
The event will also feature several Guest Speakers, including representatives from the Queensland Police Service, Empire Theatre at Toowoomba, MAS National (Women in Trades), and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, University of Southern Queensland and South West Hospital and Health Service who will each provide insights into their respective industries and discuss pathways to career success.
Balonne Shire Council Mayor Samantha O’Toole said this event is a great opportunity to showcase all the job and business opportunities available in our Shire and to our residents.
“Creating more jobs and business opportunities in the region is a key focus for this Council.”
“The Career and Job Expo is not just for school kids; it is for everyone looking to improve their career prospects.”
“We are really looking forward to hearing from a range of guest speakers from throughout the State and from such a diverse breadth of industries.”
Balonne Shire Council is also encouraging local businesses from across the shire to register for a stall at the event and have a presence on the day.
The organisation of this event has been a collaborative effort between a number of organisations, including St George State High School, South West Hospital and Health Service, Care Balonne, Workforce Australia’s Local Jobs and Country Universities Centre Balonne.
A free sausage sizzle will be available on the day (courtesy of Rotary and sponsored by Workforce Australia), and hot donuts and drinks will be available for purchase (thanks to the St George Bakery).
Additionally, a pre-event dinner will be held at the Farmhouse Cafe on Tuesday night for stall holders to network amongst themselves and with locals. Tickets for the dinner are available at Council offices in St George or via the QR code on posters.
The Career and Job Expo promises to be an informative and engaging event for the community, and Balonne Shire Council and look forward to welcoming attendees on 10 May 2023.
