BALONNE SHIRE TO GET INTO THE SWING OF JUNE GOLFING EVENTS
The Balonne Shire is proud to be hosting three high-profile golfing events in June at the highly acclaimed St George Golf Club: the Queensland Men's Sandgreen Championship, the Women's Sandgreen Cup and the Outback Masters.
- These events tee-off on 3-4 June, on the fairways of St George Golf Club and will involve the best male golfers in the state vying for the esteemed Queensland Men's Sandgreen Championship title.
- Following closely, on 10-11 June, female golfers will showcase their skills in the Women's Sandgreen Cup.
- Later in the month, from 17-19 June, the Outback Masters will provide an exceptional tournament for competitors, with local, interstate, and possibly international golfers aiming for victory in this prestigious event.
Balonne Shire Mayor Samantha O’Toole said this is a stellar opportunity for local residents to witness an exciting display of talent, precision, and sportsmanship.
“These events are on par to encourage, inspire, and elevate men’s and women's participation and performance in golf,” Mayor O’Toole said.
"We're thrilled to have these distinguished golfing events at the St George Golf Club.
"Not only will these tournaments bring top-tier golf to our doorstep, but they also offer an opportunity for our youth to engage with PGA Professional Darren Weatherall and perhaps kindle dreams of becoming future golf champions."
“There are also a range of entertainment and festivities associated with these events such as renowned Comedy and Opera performances for ticket holders.”
To foster the next generation of golfers, as part of the Outback Masters, Free Junior Golf Clinics with PGA Professional Darren Weatherall who will personally coach young enthusiasts from ages 5 to 18, providing an extraordinary opportunity for youngsters to learn from a professional.
Both beginners eager to try golf and intermediate players keen to refine their skills are welcome.
“The Outback Masters event will also be accompanied by entertainment including acts by Australia’s leading comedy ventriloquist, Darren Carr and renowned Opera and Music Theatre performed by Tarita Botsman and Natasha Veselinovic.”
Darren Carr will be performing and has delivered thousands of shows worldwide with his cast of hilarious characters. Darren has been recognised with over two dozen “ACE” and “MO” Entertainment Awards as “Specialty Performer of the Year” and a record seven-time winner of “Australian Performer of the Year”.
The Prima Divas – Opera and Music Theatre experience includes the breathtaking fusion of distinguished opera singer Tarita Botsman and the sensational musical theatre singer Natasha Veselinovic, as they join forces to deliver a captivating journey through the timeless hits of divas from the past and present.
There will also be a ‘Dinner Under the Stars’ experience for ticket holders.
Tickets for the events are available online. Attendance at the Junior Golf Clinics is free, but registration is required due to limited places.
